Smarden

Here we did a village trail. Top left is Jubilee House 1772 built to promote the traditional style. Next Chessenden a hall house (1450-1480) Gale end added later. Next East End cottages said to be redundant stabling from Napoleonic Wars. Many others date from 17th century. Locals were doing a lorry count as they are on a drive to stop them coming through this old village with its narrow streets.
